Swimming...

Robbie doesn't like swimming. I learned that last night when I took him swimming, and he screamed the entire time, as he hung onto me for dear life. I thought he would warm up to it after a while, but apparently that wasn't the case. I also thought he would sleep in this morning becuase of all the swimming/screaming, and staying up an hour after his bedtime. I was wrong. He woke up at 5:30am, and was ready to start his day. We had gone to Walgreens, Target and the teacher's store (a half an hour away from here), all by noon. I never thought that I would accomplish so much on a Saturday morning. I'm hoping not to accomplish as much by noon tomorrow, but I have a feeling we won't be lounging in bed until 9 or 10.

Even a trip to the grocery store is an adventure.

About 5 minutes into our trip to the grocery store today, I noticed that one of Rob's (brand new) shoes was missing. We doubled back and retraced our steps, but had no luck in finding it. So, we made our way to the customer service desk, and asked if anyone had turned in a shoe. They lady said no, but hang on. Then, she proceeded to make an announcement: "attention shoppers, we have a little boy here at the customer service desk who has lost a shoe. Could everyone please look around you and see if you can find it." As if I wasn't already embarrassed enough, the lady behind us soon pointed out that it was way at the front of the shelf on the bottom of our cart. Oops. Oddly enough, the cashier said they get tons of kid's shoes turned in, that no one ever claims. I guess those people hadn't just forked out $30 for a pair of Stride Rites two days before, cause their husbands forgot the shoes their kid was supposed to wear in his pictures, and couldn't get his pictures taken in his old, scuffed shoes that didn't match his outfit (see post from Monday). No, I will never let Gregg forget that one.

The Portrait Fiasco.

We went to get pictures taken today, and the plan was for Mom to meet Rob and Dad at the store after she was done with work. Well, we met there. But Daddy had made one little mistake. The outfit Rob was supposed to wear for pictures was sitting on the kitchen counter, and not in the bag that he had brought. So, we had 2 choices: 1) wear the dirty sweats and sweatshirt he had on, or 2) buy a new outfit. We chose 2. Mom ran like a madwomen through J.C. Penney trying to find something decent (there was only one outfit that wasn't shorts and a Hawaiian shirt, so it didn't take all that much thought to pick something). The pants were a little big, but it worked. Then, we got to the portrait studio, looking all spiffy, and ready to take some pictures. Rob decided that today, he was going to attach himself to Mom, and cry whenever the lady tried to take his picture. We got 2 shots that were even halfway decent, and not a smile was to be found anywhere. He did slightly grin at times, but would not let it turn into a full fledged smile. Yes, fun was had by all.

Wow!!! I'm 16 mths old already.
