Christmas 2009

Return of the blog.

It's been forever since I've updated this blog, and I decided that I need to share pictures much more often, so I'm going to make an effort to do so. The kids are growing and changing so much that it's not really fair to keep these cuties to myself, I must share them with the world (well, ok, maybe not the world, but all of you reading).

Rob is finishing up his year of 4 year old kindergarten, and will be going to regular kindergarten in the fall. Unfortunately, he didn't get into the fine arts magnet school that I wanted him to go to, but he will be attending our neighborhood school, which is a really nice school. Rob has been taking Tai Kwan Do classes for the past few months, and is enjoying it. His instructor says that he should be ready to test for his first belt in May, can't wait to see him try to break a board (I've been reassured that it is the easiest part of the test, and it won't hurt him, the instructor must have seen the panic on my face when he mentioned that part of it). Rob doesn't know that this is part of the test yet, and I'm sure that he will be talking about it for months after it happens.

Jaina is loving her sitter, Lynda, and all of the other kids there. The girls tend to get into some spats at times, mostly when one touches the other's shoes or clothes. Yikes, it starts already and she's only 2.

We're in the final push to summer now, and are looking forward to spending some time in Winnipeg this summer with Grandma and Grandpa (if the drive there doesn't kill me).

Summer is in full swing, even though the weather doesn't always show it. We are having a blast with Grandma and Grandpa here, and mom actually has had some time to relax and catch up with her friends. Here are some new pictures of the kids.

The kid's babysitter, Lynda, took these pictures of the kids, they turned out fantastic.
The school year is coming to an end and they say that we will see summer weather sometime soon. I really hope so. The kids are becoming true siblings, ie. they are the best of friends and the worst of enemies. Jaina is certainly holding her own with Rob, and with everyone else. In fact, Rob suggested to me a couple of weeks ago that we buy Jaina a little house for her to live in, because she always takes his stuff. Pretty good logic for a 4 year old. The kids are loving their new sitter, they are so happy there, and come home in much better moods than they did from the daycare. They do all kinds of things, go to the park, bake cookies, help make meals and snacks, and run through the sprinkler on those rare occasions that it has been warm enough. Mom is (possibly, maybe) going to be teaching a jewelry making class in summer school this summer, but Grandma and Grandpa are planning on coming down, so the kids will be well entertained while Mom's at work.

Sigh. There never seems to be enough time in the day to get everything done, and unfortunately, blogging seems to be at the bottom of the list. We are relatively settled now in our new place, and Rob and Jaina love their new sitter. She watches them at her house, and she is wonderful. Rob helps her cook, they play outside, and the even went to the zoo the other day. They both seem really happy there, and are excited to go in the morning.

So, what's new with the kids? Well, Rob amazes me every day with the things he can do, and the things he comes up with to say. His favorite line now is "Mom, are you kidding me?". He still loves his trains, riding his bike, and generally running around being silly. Jaina is developing her own little personality, it can best be described as sweet and sassy. She is already definitely holding her own with her brother.
