Welcome home Jaina.
After a few hours yesterday under the Billi light for jaundice, Jaina was doing so well she was able to come back to the room and hang out with Mom for the night. Everything looked great this morning, so we were able to leave the hospital at around 10:30am, YAY!!! Although the hospital was great and all the nurses were wonderful, it's really nice to be home. Jaina has been sleeping most of the day, but she has woken up to eat. She is feeding really well, and definitely lets us know when she's hungry. Other than that, she is so far a pretty happy little girl, and has had some periods of alertness where she has her eyes open and is just taking everything in. We keep looking at her and marveling over how tiny she is, she is just a little peanut. There was another baby at the hospital in a cute little pea pod costume last night that was 12 lbs, 8oz at birth. The costume was a 3-6 month outfit and the mom was commenting on how they were going to have to take back all the 0-3 month clothes that they had bought. It was kind of funny looking at Jaina who is swimming in the newborn clothes we had brought for her.
The nurses from the nursery were all quite upset that I was taking Jaina back in my room last night after having her weighed, because they all wanted to hold her. The nurse that brought her to me told me that she was the cutest baby in the nursery. Ok, so they probably say that to every new Mom, but I'm sure they really meant it about my kid.
So far Rob is doing really well with Jaina, and is a very proud big brother. He even told Grandma "I like her" (Jaina) at one point, which is quite the compliment from him. He has been very interested in where Jaina is at any given moment, and what she is doing. He is being very gentle with her so far, touching her head and holding her hand. Not quite sure if it's set in yet that she is staying here with us permentantly.
As promised, here are some pictures:

BABY NEWS!!!!!
Thursday started out like a normal day, but somehow ended up ending with a new baby. Here's the story: I woke up on Thursday morning having some Braxton Hicks contractions, some of which were a little stronger than normal, but nothing too terrible. They came and went throughout the day, and I didn't really think much of it. Gregg got home from a trip at about 6pm, at which point the contractions were getting a little bit more intense. We timed them, and they were inconsistent, about 6-12 min apart. Some were pretty strong, but others were mild. We decided to just relax and watch some t.v. for a while, to see what happened. Well, by 10pm they were all of a sudden coming about 3 min apart and were beginning to be pretty painful, so I decided we should head out to the hospital. I had some pretty severe contractions in the car on the way there, but was still not too bad when I went in to the hospital. That didn't last long, as a few minutes after changing into a lovely hospital gown, the contractions were coming fast and furious, and the dr. informed me that I was fully effaced and 4 cm dialated. He immediately had me prepped for a c-section, and with the promise of an epidural coming soon, I was all for it. The nurses were shocked because I seemed to be doing ok when I got to the hospital, but within a few minutes was in full fledged active labor. And here I thought they were going to send me home and tell me that it was all Braxton Hicks contractions. I guess I can understand now how some women have babies in the car, I always thought it was crazy for them to wait so long to go to the hospital. I just kept saying "but it really didn't feel all that bad until I got here".
Anyhow, fast forward through a bunch of screaming, needles and other stuff you don't want to hear about, after some acrobatics by our daughter (she flipped around to a breech position just as the dr. was trying to get her out), Jaina Morgan Bywater entered the world at 11:59pm, Thursday, October 25th. Although, she didn't have a name for about a half a day after birth, Daddy and Mommy were having some slight differences of opinion on the name front. She was 6 lbs, 7oz and 19 inches long, has a lot of dark brown hair and Dad thinks she looks like Mom. As of this morning, we are all still doing well, but Jaina is a little bit jaundiced. She is off seeing the dr. right now, but will most likely need to spend some time under the light today. We had a pretty good night last night, and Mom and baby both got some really good sleep. I was thinking that we would go home today, but depending on what the dr says about the jaundice, and what my dr. says as well, I think we might wait until tomorrow now.

My crazy little kid
I had a hard time getting Rob to bed last night, he wanted me to hold his hand, but then would start playing around and being goofy instead of going to sleep. He tried everything including the whole "I want water" thing, and the "I have to go potty" thing. No dice kiddo, Mom's on to your games. I finally got fed up with those games, and went downstairs. I heard his door open, but he didn't come running out, so I just let him be for a while. A couple of minutes later, he was quiet, and continued to be quiet so I figured he was asleep. Well, he was asleep alright, but apparently he fell asleep AFTER he took off his pj's and diaper, and was fast asleep in his bed, naked. Luckily, he barely opened his eyes while I got him dressed again.
Bedtime tonight was much less stressful, but there was that whole him pooping in my jaccuzzi tub thing that put a bit of a damper on the evening. Bath time ended pretty darn quickly after that little incident. Who knew that a nice warm bath in Mom's tub would get the digestive system moving like that??
Just goes to show that life's never dull around here, and it's only going to get crazier folks. Baby (no, still no name yet sorry) is scheduled to arrive on Oct 29th via scheduled c-section. She doesn't know it yet, but I have decided that my dr. will say that I can't go back to work after my appt tomorrow (which shouldn't be a problem after several high blood pressures this week). I'm uber pregnant. Tired. Cranky. Emotional. ie. I'm done with work, until this baby comes so I can maybe feel rested for a few days before I become so sleep deprived that I can fall asleep waiting in line at the grocery store. My ability to deal with work and overall be professional and civil to annoying people has left for the duration of this pregnancy.

Our Weekend
We drove down to Indiana this weekend to see our friends Stacie and Joe, and their daughter Olivia. We had a really nice time, despite Rob running around like a madman sticking his tongue out and spitting about half the time we were there. Not quite sure what was up with that, must be something he learned at daycare (yes, I will now be blaming any unusual or awful new behavior on daycare so get used to it). He was even a little out of sorts at daycare today, his teacher said that he was somewhat naughty throughout the day. We had a nice little chat about it. If you consider Rob smiling and saying "yes mommy", "ok mommy" after everything I said even though he probably wasn't taking in one word of it, a nice chat. Hopefully it was just because of being in a strange environment and limited sleep, and not the beginning of a whole new crazy kid phase.
We did have a great time though, it was great to catch up with Stacie and Joe, and we also got to spend some time with our other friends Tracy and Jason and their kids Sidney and Luke, as well as our friend Toni and her kids Antonia and J.P. All of the kids, of course, are growing up so fast, it was amazing to see what gorgeous young ladies Antonia and Sydney have become, and how much bigger Luke and J.P. have gotten since the last time we saw them. Even Olivia, who we just saw a few weeks ago seemed to have grown up and all of a sudden holds adult-like conversations. With all of our busy lives, it was such a treat to be able to see everyone and catch up on their lives.
