Standing up!! Posted by Picasa

ok, ok, here are some new pictures.

So apparently, I've been slacking. I've been gently reminded that I need to post some new pictures, and fast. This past weekend we went to Indiana to visit Stacie and Joe, who have a new daughter, Olivia Claire (who is adorable). We had a great time, Gregg and Joe went to a concert on Sat, while the girls (and Robbie) shopped, and gabbed. Sunday, we all swam in their pool, and Robbie actually liked the water this time. It was a great weekend.

Robbie crawled!!!

He went from his butt to a crawling position, and moved both hands and legs one time each. Didn't get very far, but it was definitely a start. What are we doing this weekend? Babyproofing, I think. Time to put away all those pretty candles.

California Trip

The California trip was a success, no major meltdowns on the airplane, in the car, or anywhere else on the trip. The people around us on the plane commented on how good Robbie was, and said that they liked flying with our baby. Yay Rob!!!!! We kept him busy by feeding him (most always keeps him happy), letting him jump in our laps, and he even took a couple of naps. He did pretty good on the 4 hour drive to Paso Robles, but he did make it clear several times that his new carseat is not his favorite place to be. While in CA, we did some sightseeing in San Fransisco - drove over the Golden Gate Bridge, and drove down Lombard St (the most crooked St. in the world), both of which Robbie slept right through. He did get to see some of the sights at Fisherman's Wharf and Ghiradelli square (like the chocolate - he even got to try a bit of ice cream there). He had a fun time visiting with Nana, Papa, Uncle Phillip, Auntie Stephanie and Auntie Danielle. The first night there, it was well past his bedtime, and he continued to stay up and amuse everyone by doing things he thought were funny, then looking around the table to make sure everyone was reacting to his cuteness, and smiling and laughing. How did I end up with such a ham (don't answer that, I know what you're going to say). All in all, a fun time was had by all.

Happy Canada Day!!!!!!

Rob is apparently celebrating Canada day by talking an extra long nap this afternoon. I dropped him off at the babysitter's house this morning and went shopping (Mom's way of celebrating), and he must have had way too much fun there, because he fell asleep on the way home and has been sleeping for an hour and a half so far. Gregg has been in Florida for a week, and does not get home until Sun. night, and then we leave on Monday morning for 5 days in California to visit with Gregg's family. We are flying in to San Fransisco on Monday, and spending the night there for some quality family time before heading off to visit the rest of the Bywater clan. We will be there on the 4th of July, so it will be interesting to see how Rob likes fireworks. Considering he is terrified of the vaccuum cleaner, odds are he isn't going to dig fireworks very much. One of the reasons I went shopping was to buy Rob a new car seat, he has outgrown his infant carrier. I went into his room the other night to check on him, and as he was sleeping, it dawned on me that he looked more like a little boy, and less like a baby. His face really seems to have changed over the past couple of weeks, maybe due to all of the teeth that are all fully poked through now. Although, now that they aren't hurting him anymore, he is a much much happier little guy (yay!!!!). Oops, someone is waking up.

Having a "talk" with Canada bear  Posted by Hello

Milestones galore!!!!

It seems like my little bug has morphed into a new person over the past couple of days. Yesterday I heard some babbling, at least 3 consonants (yay says mommy the speech therapist). I had him on the floor with his little Canada bear (that's as big as he is), and he "talked" to the bear for a good 10 minutes. Not sure what they were talking about, but it was quite the conversation from the sounds of it. Yesterday, he also started pulling himself up to standing, from sitting, when holding on to my fingers. He held himself up on the chair/coffee table today for a few seconds each time. From sitting, he is also trying to get on his hands and knees, but hasn't quite mastered the maneuver, and usually ends up falling on his head. (This, I try not to let him do on the hardwood floors). He is using his hands to try to move around, you can tell that he is just itching to get moving.

Swimming

Nothing too terribly exciting this weekend, but I figured I'd better post something, because Lisa gets impatient when I don't (just teasing ya Lis). Actually, we did go swimming for the first time on Thursday. Rob was less than impressed with the whole thing, and screamed whenever I put him in the water. I thought he would like it, since he loves his baths, but I think the water was a little too cold for him. Tried to put him in a floaty, and he freaked out, so I didn't push it. He also screamed when I ran the vacuum cleaner today, but that's probably because it's a sound he doesn't hear very often. :) Today was very low key, we went to Kmart and that is about it. Rob has graduated though to not needing his baby carrier when we go to the store, he can sit up in the cart now. It's really kind of cute, except that he keeps trying to chew on the seatbelt in the cart (really disgusting seatbelts that hundreds of other kids have drooled on or spilled God knows what on). I always thought the shopping cart handle covers they sell were just a silly product, now I think we really need one. That's all for now.

This guy is funny!! Posted by Hello

Mr. Personality

Went to the doctor today, as Rob has still been a little stuffed up and coughing. Anyone who passed by us got huge smiles, and batting of those long lashes. My child is such a flirt. The nurses couldn't get enough of him, and probably wondered what I was doing bringing in the happiest baby in the world saying he was sick. (He did end up having a sinus infection). He grinned at everyone in line at Walgreens while we were waiting for his prescription, and almost jumped out of my arms over the counter at the reception desk at the doctor's office trying to see what was back there. He is so curious, it's amazing to see him try to look at/feel/put in his mouth, everything he sees. He is also starting to move around so much more, I put him in the middle of my bed this morning, with his boppy pillow around him so I could get dressed, and he almost rolled off the bed. It's a good thing I have developed the mommy "eyes in the back of my head", and turned around just in time to stop him. I think I'll be putting him on the floor from now on when I need to do something.

Our First Father's Day. Posted by Hello

Grass is fun!! Posted by Hello

Robbie and Daddy at Harbor Fest Posted by Hello

Father's Day Weekend

We had a very musical weekend, starting on Thursday when we went to Jazz in the Park with our friends Jodi, Cory and their daughter Olivia. Rob had a great time looking at all the people, and listening to music. We were out way past his bedtime, and he was a real trouper. Friday, we went to a Kindermusik class at a nearby hospital, as part of a Mommy and Me class. It was ok, but not a whole lot different from the singing and moving we do at home all the time. Saturday, we all went to Harbor Fest (a music festival on the lake), where Rob had his first experience feeling the grass. He seemed to like it, even tried to eat a bit of it when we weren't looking. We had fun sitting in the sun, listening to music, and eating Cheerios (well, Rob ate Cheerios, Mom and Dad had funnel cake). All in all, a pretty great weekend.

Robbie and Maren at the park Posted by Hello

Rob and Maren

Friday morning, we went to the beach with some of the other moms and babies in our playgroup. Who knew there was a nice beach about a mile away from our house??? It has a really cool playground too, Rob liked the baby swings, and enjoyed spitting up in the tunnel. In the evening, we had a fun visit with our friends Amanda and Maren (Rob's new little girlfriend) They had a great time grabbing at each other's noses, and smiling/talking to each other. Finally, a bath (great photos to be revealed to future girfriends, to Rob's complete embarassment - hey, mom's gotta keep entertained too!!), and then night time. Robbie actually fell asleep in their Pack and Play, so I could visit for a little while longer. All in all, a great day.

Yoda, and more

As promised, here are some pics of Robbie in his Yoda costume. My personal favorite is the one where he is doing his daddy face, sometimes it's scary how his mannerisms are so much like Gregg's. The other pictures were taken in an attempt to get a good one to send to wish Auntie Elaine a Happy Birthday. We were going to make a sign for him to hold, but Rob was really ready for a nap, so we just grabbed the camera. What a ham, you would never be able to tell that just a minute before the pictures were taken, he was whining and turning red in the face. Whip out a camera, and he is all smiles. My little flirt was in full charming mode today when we went to some garage sales, smiling and batting those long eyelashes at everyone we saw.

That Hokey Pokey sure is tiring.  Posted by Hello

Just when you thought he couldn't get any cuter....

Robbie has learned a new trick, the best trick ever, I think. He gives kisses. Big, wet, open mouth, slobbery kisses on the cheek, and then big smiles when mom squeals with delight. We are working on other ones like "How big is Robbie", and rolling over from back to front (stubborn little guy just won't do it, will only roll the other way), but so far those are a no-go. He does do a pretty good Hokey Pokey though, with a little help from Mom.
